Lt Col Jonathan F. Vogel

Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan F. Vogel is an Air University Fellow and Director of the Air University Fellows Program at Maxwell AFB, AL. He is responsible for the administration, development, and outplacement of more than 120 officers selected to the AU Fellows Program on behalf of the Air University Commander and President.

Lieutenant Colonel Vogel received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2006. He completed Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, TX in 2008.

Lieutenant Colonel Vogel has served in a variety of operational and staff positions including T-6A Instructor Pilot, B-1B Instructor Pilot, Evaluator Pilot, Assistant Director of Operations, Wing Executive Officer, Chief of Combat Air Force O-6 Assignments at Headquarters Air Force, and Branch Chief for Battlespace Awareness, Command and Control at the Air Force Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities office. He has deployed in support of operations ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, and FREEDOM’S SENTINEL. Prior to this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Vogel served as the 36th Operations Support Squadron Commander, Andersen AFB, Guam.

There he was responsible for all flying operations at INDOPACOM’s largest fighter, bomber, tanker, and airlift base supporting 16,000 sorties per year. He led the Wing’s JADC2 modernization efforts, oversaw the Wing’s Agile Combat Employment and Operations Plans readiness, managed the Wing’s intelligence enterprise, and coordinated all DoD and international deployments to include the first F-22 operations on Tinian island and the first Agile Combat Employment exercise with the Air Forces of Japan.

Lieutenant Colonel Vogel is a graduate of the CSAF Blue Horizons Fellowship. He is a Command Pilot with more than 2700 total flight hours and 895 combat hours.
