Maj Brandon Froberg is an AY24 Air University Fellow leading the Officer Training School Future Operations and Lessons Learned Directorate (OTS/A5/8/9) at Maxwell Air Force Base. His team secured approval from the Air Education Training Command for a $1.1M advanced simulator system. The system establishes a phased acquisition requirement validation effort. The aim is to create a new capstone for AETC officer accessions for the era of Great Power Competition.
Previously, he was the Integration and Innovation Branch Chief at Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command within the A5/8 Plans, Policy, and Requirements Directorate. He led innovation efforts such as the Codemmandos Initiative, which created an AFSOC-centered occupational competency model for scripting and coding skills. He led the investment of $8M in MITRE research and support contracts and supported the integration development of new technologies such as Starlink communications, palletized effects, and SpaceX rocket cargo efforts. Additionally, he was the Special Warfare Technology Integration Support Cooperative Director and enabled warfighter support and technology development via the Air Force Lifecycle Center of a $13M budget to enhance 24th Special Operations Wing requirements..
He previously acted as a Course Director supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory for key courses across their 4000+ Engineering workforce. Critically, he facilitated the United States Air Force Airworthiness Office’s suite of Airworthiness courses on methods, processes, and certification for airworthiness approvals. His work supported the training and education of over 16,000 students within his department’s $14.9M portfolio.
