Generative AI In Education: Curriculum, Assessments, Tools, Prompting

Dr. Laura McNeill is an Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of Alabama, where she specializes in leveraging generative AI to transform instructional design and teaching practices. With over a decade of experience in academia and industry, Dr. McNeill has established herself as a thought leader in integrating cutting-edge technologies into education to enhance learning outcomes and accessibility.

Dr. McNeill’s research focuses on the adoption, ethical use, and best practices for generative AI in instructional design. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including studies on AI-enhanced course design, microlearning strategies, and faculty perceptions of AI in higher education. Her work has been featured in leading journals such as Tech Trends and International Journal of eLearning. Additionally, she co-developed innovative courses like “Generative AI and Instructional Design,” which equip graduate students with the skills to ethically and effectively incorporate AI into their professional practice.

An active presenter at international conferences, Dr. McNeill has delivered workshops and talks on topics ranging from AI literacy to inclusive course design using generative AI. Her contributions have earned her multiple accolades, including the Presidential Designation for Excellence at the AECT International Convention.
